Hey, Free stuff. (Spoiler alert – not intended for anyone who believes in Santa – like young children and their Grandparents)
Okay you send him a letter with your wishes or you sit on his helper’s knees and tell him what you want.
A socialist ignores your wishes and wants – the socialist already knows better than you what you are allowed to need.
Santa decides if you have been good enough to get what you want or if you deserve something else or nothing. It is a merit system.
A Socialist doesn’t decide if you deserve something, you get what they decide to give you – no thought about whether you are good enough – unless they decide that you are not working and should be – then they can penalize you. Or if you are working at something they do not condone – like making a profit beyond their allowance – then they will take things from you.
Santa and his elves work very hard to get everything done and delivered on time. Their incentive is the profit (you know his elves are really mostly corporations being paid by your parents). And if your wishes are charitable the profit is intangible but real.
Socialists hate profit and therefore there is no incentive for the elves (which the socialists own or control) to deliver on time, or create new and efficient or attractive products, or to even make them at all. There is no incentive to offer choices of color, quality, brand, style, usefulness, innovation. Why would Apple make a new version of iPhone or AirPods if the government will steal all their profit or just steal the whole company.
So no, Virginia, Santa is not a Socialist.
